Fortunatæ es un ensayo audiovisual perfomativo, concebido durante la Global Slavery History Fellowship - y construido a través de colaboraciones con el International Institute of Social History, el Rijksmuseum, el Amsterdam Museum, el Allard Pierson Museum, el Stadsarchief Amsterdam y la Universidad de Ámsterdam -, Fortunatæ investiga el papel de los Países Bajos en la historia de la esclavitud canaria al tiempo que explora nuevas formas de narrar el pasado. La pieza entrelaza obras de arte, material de archivo y otros documentos históricos en un dispositivo híbrido entre el cine de ensayo y la performance. La capa oral, que existe únicamente en la presentación en vivo, se transforma en una capa textual para su versión audiovisual. Este ensayo audiovisual performativo explora formas artísticas vinculadas con la mediumnidad, con el fin de ofrecer una corporalidad simbólica a las personas esclavizadas en Canarias, excluidas de la construcción del archivo.
Fortunatæ is a performative audiovisual essay conceived during the Global Slavery History Fellowship - and built through collaborations with the International Institute of Social History, the Rijksmuseum, the Amsterdam Museum, the Allard Pierson Museum, the Stadsarchief Amsterdam, and the University of Amsterdam -. Fortunatæ investigates the role of the Netherlands in the history of slavery in the Canary Islands while exploring new ways of narrating the past. The piece weaves together artworks, archival materials, and other historical documents in a hybrid device between essay film and performance. Its oral layer, which exists only in live presentation, becomes a textual layer for the audiovisual version. This performative audiovisual essay explores artistic forms linked to mediumship, in order to offer a symbolic corporeality to the enslaved people of the Canary Islands, excluded from the construction of the archive.
